Biography
Why did you choose the Brown University School of Public Health?
I was admitted to the Health Equity Scholars Program and viewed it as a wonderful pathway for me to pursue my interest in conducting health disparity research addressing health inequities.
What makes Brown's program different from other programs you considered?
The Brown School of Public Health at Brown University stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, a strong commitment to social justice and health equity, research opportunities, community engagement, flexible curriculum, leadership and policy focus, advantageous location in Providence, global health perspective, coupled with their diverse faculty and student body.
What do you enjoy most about your program?
I enjoy the guest speakers and the different events SPH hosts.
What is your academic area of interest and why?
I am doing the interdisciplinary track concentrating in Epidemiology and Health Services. My academic area of interest is looking for ways to efficiently, effectively, and equitably improve quality care in healthcare.
What are your postgraduate goals/plans?
After graduation, I aim to pursue a public health job in health equity, policy, and data analysis.
Why Providence?
It is a charming, walkable little city with great restaurants, coffee shops, and libraries, and there is excellent public accessibility to big cities like NYC and Boston via train.
What advice would you give to a prospective applicant?
For prospective applicants, active participation in public health labs and programs can be helpful. For instance, involvement in public health labs can deepen your understanding of the field. It's also important to ensure that your chosen school aligns well with your interests and provides an environment where you can thrive.
